We serve the entire population of Wayne County, assuring that services will be available to all regardless of religious, racial and ethnic backgrounds. Everyday we assist in meeting peoples' basic needs, building stronger communities, strengthening families, feeding the hungry, and providing vital housing services.
The 1st Annual Tasting for Charity, “Taste the Goodness”, was held on Friday, September 9th, at Long Acre Farms and JD Wine Cellars, 1342 Eddy Road in Macedon. Over 100 guests were treated to a delightful evening of tasting wines and sampling a variety of delicious foods from area wineries and restaurants. Many guests took advantage of wagon rides out to the vineyards of JD Wine Cellars, where they were treated to an explanation of the process for growing and processing grapes for quality wines.
The unique, casual atmosphere, the quality of the foods and the wines, the live music of Tom Briggs and Buck Gelo and the wonderful weather led to many positive comments by those who attended the first Tasting for Charity. The audience warmly applauded Sandy Pagano, who chaired this year's event, for the wonderful outcome of the evening.
Guests included the Most Reverend Matthew Clark, Bishop of Rochester, Jim Hoffman, Supervisor of Wayne County, Vicky Daly, Mayor of Palmyra, and Jack Balinsky, Diocesan Director of Catholic Charities. Sr. Janet Korn was honored at the event for her role in establishing La Casa, a residence for migrant farm workers operated by Catholic Charities of Wayne County in Sodus.
