College Bound provides valuable support for high school juniors and seniors who are academically qualified to attend college and would benefit from additional support for pursuing a college education. College Bound students are often the first in their family to attend college and are unfamiliar with the process for successfully enrolling at a college or university. Participants are referred by high school guidance counselors who determine that the students need additional encouragement and support to successfully pursue a college degree.

Specific services include an intake process for each participant and regular meetings at which academic and personal goals are discussed and identified and a time line established. Our College Bound Coordinator assists participants in completing applications for enrollment, arranging to take ACT and SAT tests and filling out financial aid forms. Group visits are made to college campuses, college fairs, the Voices of Experience program and Susan B. Anthony House.

The College Bound program has been extremely successful. Virtually every participant successfully enrolls in college. At the end of the senior year in high school, a graduation party is held for participating youth and their families.

College Bound is currently available at high schools in Lyons, Pal-Mac, North Rose-Wolcott, and Red Creek.
