VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF WAYNE COUNTY

Catholic Charities of Wayne County relies heavily on volunteers to respond to the needs of our clients and to make our operations even more efficient.  Volunteers help sort and distribute clothing at our Community Clothing Center in Wolcott.  They help maintain the building, perform landscaping and gardening and assist the residents at La Casa in Sodus.  Volunteers assist with clerical and administrative duties at our main office in Newark, where they also lend a hand with visitors to our Food Pantry.

We are also open to considering additional ways that volunteers can serve Catholic Charities.  For example, specialists in income tax preparation have volunteered to provide free income tax preparation this year at our Clothing Center in Wolcott for those who cannot afford to pay for tax assistance.  Lawyers and nurses are welcome to offer volunteer services to those who would otherwise not have access to legal advice or medical testing and guidance.

Especially welcome at this time are volunteers for our College Bound program.  Our College Bound Coordinator could use volunteers in helping area high school students complete college applications and financial aid forms.  This is a great opportunity to provide encouragement and support for a qualified student who needs assistance in dealing with all the issues involved in selecting and enrolling in college.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer at Catholic Charities, please call us at our main number, 315-331-4867.  For La Casa, call 315-483-9034.  For the Community Clothing Center, call 315-905-4092.  For College Bound, call our main number and ask for Allison.

To volunteer at Catholic Charities, it will be necessary to complete an application form, which is available HERE.  We also request that persons applying to volunteer provide us with a reference by using this REFERENCE form.  All volunteers are expected to comply with our Volunteer Code of Conduct, which you can review by clicking on CODE.  At the time volunteer service begins, volunteers will be asked to sign a Confidentiality Statement.

We are very grateful for our dedicated volunteers.  We hope that you will consider playing a role as a volunteer in the great work that we do in Wayne County.
